Speak Life, Not Death

"Give me life!"
"You better slay in that dress!"
"Come through hair and makeup, yasss!"

These are just three of the 1,000 compliments I dished out to my friends this past weekend. My goal was to keep them from saying, "I don't like my outfit" or "My hair looks a mess." If they continue to speak that way, they will eventually believe it. There is true power behind the words and I have decided to focus on the bright side of things. I'm glad to say that my positivity was infectious. That weekend, the highlighter was piled on cheeks, hair was swung, and my friends' Snapchat stories were full of selfies. My mission was accomplished and I felt great from doingsomething so simple.

We never let the women in our tribe be down for too long, so don't do it to yourself. Throughout the day, find moments to pride yourself for all the work that you have done. Positive self-talk is the action of being verbally kind to yourself. The Bible says, "Life and death is in the power of the tongue," Proverbs 18:21. Speak life into your self-esteem. Speak life into your projects. Speak life into how your day will go.

Here are some general affirmations to give you a head start:

  • I am worthy of everything positive life has to offer me.
  • I am loved.
  • I am appreciated.
  • My life is beautiful.
  • I am happy to be alive.
  • I am beautiful.

I hope you feel like a boss today because you are! Take the time to surround yourself with people who never let you believe otherwise and watch how you continue to flourish. Share some of your favorite affirmations to get you through the day in the comments below!
