Celebrate Your Small Wins
If you were to write down a list of your accomplishments from the past year, what would you be able to say? Did you get a promotion? Did you travel internationally?
I have been writing down my accomplishments every December for the past 2 years. At the end of my list, I always put, "I treated people right." Although this is something I'm supposed to do, I see that as an accomplishment. It's hard to stay on track, so give yourself some credit.
It's great that you got that promotion, but pat yourself on the back for going to the grocery store right after work. If you've recently faced a fear, be proud of your progress. If you got up for class today after doing an all-nighter, congratulations! If you tackled your to-do list for the week at work, good for you!
Cheer for yourself just like you would for your tribe.
It's easy to fall into self-pity when we make small mistakes. We get so caught up in these wrongs, that we don't remind ourselves what we did right. Allow me to remind you that you are a gift to this world.
Your circumstances, disabilities or setbacks don't make you damaged goods. You don't have 'baggage.' What makes you different from others makes you who you are: a strong, whole, talented woman.
Have a glass of wine and embrace these small wins. I'm proud of you. Your tribe is proud of you.
